RTE Gujarat: Admissions Open for 2026-27
Online applications for admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act in Gujarat commenced on April 4, 2026, with a total of over 84,000 seats available in private schools across the state. The application window will remain open until April 17, 2026, allowing parents ample time to secure a spot for their children.
Of the available seats, 25% are reserved for children from economically weaker and disadvantaged sections, ensuring that quality education is accessible to those who need it most. This year, over 41,000 seats will be in Gujarati medium, 40,262 in English medium, 2,235 in Hindi medium, and 320 in other mediums.
Parents must submit supporting documents including proof of date of birth, proof of residence, caste or category, and income certificate, with an annual income limit set at 6 lakhs. The official portal for applications is rte.orpgujarat.com, where registration can be completed online.
This year’s revised admission process includes a new option for parents to select the school timing, whether morning or afternoon shift, providing greater flexibility. Preference in admissions will be accorded to children belonging to reserved categories, further promoting inclusivity.
The lottery result for admissions is expected in early May 2026, a crucial date for many families eagerly awaiting the outcome. Parents are advised to keep one print copy of the filled online application for their records.
