PM Kisan 22nd Installment Set for Release

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to release the 22nd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan) from Guwahati, Assam, on March 13, 2026. This installment will see over ₹18,640 crore transferred directly into the bank accounts of more than 9.32 crore farmer families across the country.

With this latest transfer, the total amount disbursed under the PM Kisan scheme will surpass ₹4.27 lakh crore. Each eligible farmer family receives ₹6,000 per year, distributed in three equal installments, aimed at providing essential financial support for agricultural activities.

In this installment alone, over 2.15 crore women farmers will benefit from the financial assistance. The initiative has been praised for its role in boosting demand within the rural economy and reducing farmers’ dependence on debt, as highlighted by Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who stated, “This timely assistance helps farmers purchase essential agricultural inputs such as seeds, fertilizers and pesticides.”

The PM-KISAN scheme, launched in February 2019, has been a significant step in enhancing the welfare of farmers in India. It operates through India’s Digital Public Infrastructure, ensuring transparency and efficiency in the distribution of funds. Farmers can complete their e-KYC from home using a face-authentication-based mobile app, making the process more accessible.

Additionally, the ‘Know Your Status (KYS)’ module allows beneficiaries to check their payment status and eligibility, further streamlining the experience for farmers. The government has also introduced a ‘Voluntary Surrender’ facility for affluent farmers to ensure that the benefits reach only genuine and eligible farmers.

To maintain the integrity of the program, a robust verification system is in place to remove ineligible or deceased beneficiaries from the list. The AI-based voice chatbot ‘Kisan-eMitra’ provides information related to PM-KISAN in 11 regional languages, making it easier for farmers to access necessary information.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized the importance of the scheme, stating, “The PM-KISAN scheme has boosted demand in the rural economy, reduced farmer’s dependence on debt and encouraged agricultural investment.” Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the Central Government has prioritized the welfare of farmers in its policy-making efforts.

As the release date approaches, observers are keen to see how this installment will impact the agricultural sector and rural livelihoods. Details remain unconfirmed regarding any additional measures that may accompany this financial assistance.
