Monalisa marriage
Monalisa Bhosle marries Farman Khan
Monalisa Bhosle married Farman Khan on March 11, 2026, at the Nayanar Temple in Arumanoor, Kerala. This interfaith union has drawn significant attention, particularly due to the couple’s differing religious backgrounds.
Farman Khan hails from Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh, and the couple first met six months prior during the ‘muhurat’ ceremony of a Malayalam film titled Nagamma. Their relationship faced scrutiny, with allegations of ‘love jihad’ emerging in the public discourse.
In a statement defending their marriage, Monalisa remarked, “My parents wanted me to marry my own aunt’s son, but I did not like that match. I chose to marry him (Mr. Khan).” This sentiment reflects her determination to pursue her own path despite familial expectations.
Farman Khan also addressed the religious aspect of their marriage, stating, “Neither of us has changed our religion. She remains Hindu and I remain Muslim. In love, conversion is not necessary.” This declaration highlights their commitment to maintaining their individual identities within their union.
However, the marriage was not without its challenges. Monalisa’s father expressed his discontent with the union, choosing not to attend the ceremony. Similarly, Farman’s family opposed the marriage due to the couple’s religious differences, with Jafar Ali, a family member, stating, “I am not happy with this marriage. She belongs to another religion while we are Muslim Jats. This will create problems in the family in the future.”
Despite the familial opposition, the couple received support from various political leaders during their wedding, indicating a broader societal backing for their union. Monalisa had even approached the police for protection prior to the marriage, underscoring the tensions surrounding their relationship.
The marriage was legally registered through the Kerala government’s K-SMART app, ensuring compliance with legal requirements. Farman produced documents to refute claims that Monalisa was underage, further solidifying the legitimacy of their union.
Monalisa Bhosle gained fame during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj in 2025, which may have contributed to the public interest in her marriage. As the couple embarks on their new journey together, observers are keen to see how they navigate the complexities of their interfaith relationship amid societal expectations.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the couple’s future plans and how they will address ongoing familial concerns.
