Jiostar: Mumbai’s Takes Action Against Piracy as TATA IPL 2026 Kicks Off

“As the TATA IPL continues to scale up in unprecedented ways, our push is to assemble legends and heavyweights of the league together in our studios in a way that will offer a unique insider’s perspective to fans,” said Siddharth Sharma, a key figure at JioStar. This statement comes as the excitement builds for the 2026 TATA IPL season, which kicked off on March 28 in Mumbai, India.

On the same day, JioStar made headlines by dismantling a large-scale digital piracy syndicate operating an unauthorized IPTV service known as BOS IPTV. This operation was found to be offering access to over 10,000 linear channels and a staggering library of more than 25,000 video-on-demand titles.

In a proactive move to protect its content ecosystem, JioStar filed a criminal complaint at the Cyber Police Station in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, leading to the registration of an FIR (No. 0005 dated March 26, 2026) under multiple sections of Indian law. The website bostv.org, associated with the infringing platform, has since been taken down.

The crackdown on piracy is part of JioStar’s commitment to ensuring a fair viewing experience for fans. With over 64,000 active subscribers reportedly impacted by the illegal service, the action taken by JioStar underscores the importance of safeguarding intellectual property in the digital age.

As the TATA IPL 2026 unfolds, JioStar is set to enhance the viewing experience for cricket fans by presenting an impressive lineup of over 150 presenters and experts. This season will also feature the debut commentary of renowned cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin in JioStar’s studios.

Fans will be pleased to know that JioStar will offer the TATA IPL in 12 different language options, making the tournament accessible to a broader audience. This initiative reflects JioStar’s dedication to inclusivity and community engagement.

The 19th edition of TATA IPL promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent, featuring players from three different generations, ensuring that cricket enthusiasts have plenty to look forward to.

As the tournament progresses, JioStar’s efforts against piracy will likely continue to evolve, reinforcing its role as a leader in the sports broadcasting landscape.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any further actions against piracy, but JioStar’s commitment to protecting its content remains steadfast.
