Dubai: Traffic Woes on –Sharjah Route
Traffic congestion on the Dubai–Sharjah route has reached critical levels, with commuters facing delays of up to two hours. The situation has worsened significantly since schools reopened, impacting daily travel for many residents.
Commuters are feeling the strain, especially during peak morning and evening hours. “It’s frustrating to spend so much time in traffic when I could be home with my family,” said Ahmed Al-Farsi, a Sharjah resident who commutes daily to Dubai for work.
The reopening of schools has played a major role in this escalation. Parents dropping off their children at school contribute to the already heavy traffic flow. Many families are now considering moving closer to their workplaces to avoid these lengthy commutes.
Interestingly, there’s been a noticeable shift towards public transportation as petrol prices rise. More people are opting for buses and metro services to escape the gridlock. “Public transport is becoming more appealing as fuel costs go up,” noted Fatima bin Saeed, who recently switched from driving her car to taking the bus.
Historically, traffic congestion in this region has fluctuated, but it significantly decreased during online classes over the past few years. With schools now back in session, the roads are once again packed.
As these challenges persist, local authorities are exploring solutions to alleviate congestion. However, no specific plans have been announced yet. Commuters remain hopeful that improvements will come soon as they navigate their daily journeys.
