In a significant operation, Baramulla Police recovered approximately 1.7 kilograms of charas in the Chichilora area of Kunzer during routine patrolling on March 24. This seizure underscores the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related issues in the region.

During the operation, police intercepted a suspicious vehicle with registration number HR55AD2930. The driver, identified as Waheed Sultan, was found in possession of 27 grams of charas. Meanwhile, approximately 1.690 kilograms of charas powder was recovered from the residence of another suspect who managed to escape.

Baramulla Police have registered a case under FIR No.35/2026 at the Police Station Kunzer, reflecting their commitment to tackling the drug menace in the area. A police spokesperson stated, “Baramulla Police is committed to curbing the drug menace,” emphasizing the importance of community safety.

In a related incident, the Jammu and Kashmir Police also disposed of a live artillery shell found in the Kalgai forest area near the Line of Control. A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) team was deployed to neutralize and safely dispose of the shell, ensuring the safety of local residents.
