All Party Meeting on West Asia in New Delhi

The All Party Meeting was convened in Parliament House, New Delhi, to discuss the escalating situation in West Asia. This meeting follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to Parliament regarding the ongoing conflict, which has raised serious concerns about the safety of Indian nationals in Gulf nations.

Chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the meeting included key figures such as Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, along with leaders from various opposition parties. The discussions came amid reports that more than 375,000 Indians have been brought back since the conflict began, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

During the meeting, Kiren Rijiju expressed a united front among opposition parties, stating, “All the opposition colleagues have said that in this hour of crisis, whatever decision the government takes, whatever steps it takes according to the prevailing situation, everyone will support it unitedly.” This sentiment reflects a collective commitment to addressing the challenges posed by the conflict.

The government has also taken proactive measures by constituting seven empowered groups to develop strategies concerning fuel, supply chains, and fertilisers, ensuring that the nation remains prepared for any disruptions.

In terms of energy security, the government assured attendees that there is enough energy supply in the country, emphasizing that they are “on top of geopolitics” and that there is “nothing to worry” about energy supplies. Four ships are expected to dock in the next 4-5 days, further reinforcing this assurance.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar conveyed the Prime Minister’s message to the US President, advocating for an end to the war, stating, “The war should end, because it is hurting everybody.” This highlights India’s diplomatic efforts to seek a resolution to the ongoing conflict.

As the meeting concluded after 1 hour and 45 minutes, the government reiterated its commitment to keeping all parties informed and involved in discussions regarding the situation in West Asia. The collaborative approach aims to foster unity and ensure the safety of all Indian nationals abroad.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the specific outcomes of the meeting, but the government’s openness to discussions with the Opposition indicates a willingness to work together during these challenging times.
