Aaryamann sethi: Aayushmaan Sethi’s Warning on Free Trial Scams
Aayushmaan Sethi’s recent experience raises an alarming question: How safe are free trial offers? For Aayushmaan, the answer is troubling. He lost Rs 87,000 in a credit card scam that began with what seemed like an innocuous seven-day free trial.
The trap was simple yet deceptive. Aayushmaan approved a $0 transaction, only to find himself charged for a full year’s subscription shortly after. “You are always in a hurry,” his father, Parmeet Sethi, remarked during their family vlog, highlighting the rush that often accompanies online transactions.
This isn’t Aayushmaan’s first encounter with digital fraud. Just a year ago, he lost Rs 80,000 from his PlayStation account under similar circumstances. The emotional toll of these scams is significant; Aayushmaan expressed frustration at the lack of effective customer support. “I have no option. They said it will take them 48 hours to respond,” he lamented, adding that he felt trapped in conversations with AI rather than human representatives.
His mother, Archana Puran Singh, offered practical advice: cancel the card and reach out to the bank. But even then, the recovery process felt daunting. The family shared their concerns and frustrations with humor—an attempt to lighten the mood amid distressing circumstances.
As digital payments continue to rise, so do subscription traps and scams targeting unsuspecting consumers. Aayushmaan’s story serves as a stark reminder for others to be cautious when navigating online offers.
With more people turning to digital solutions for their needs, awareness around these scams is crucial. Consumers must scrutinize offers and understand the terms before clicking “accept.”
While Aayushmaan waits for answers from his bank, many questions linger about how such scams can be better regulated. As technology evolves, so too must our vigilance against those who exploit it.
