Tirumala: TTD Implements Heat Relief Measures for Pilgrims
As the summer rush intensifies, TTD has spent approximately two crore rupees to enhance facilities for pilgrims visiting the Tirumala temple. With temperatures soaring, the need for relief measures has become more pressing.
In response, TTD has introduced several key changes. Shaded shelters now stretch from Batagangamma Circle to Gogarbham Dam Circle and along the Outer Ring Road, providing much-needed respite from the sun.
Moreover, TTD has arranged mobile water drums to ensure a steady supply of drinking water for all visitors. With 16 medical centers available, pilgrims can access healthcare if needed—a vital service during this peak season.
The laddu distribution has also seen an increase. TTD made an additional 3.50 lakh laddus available to accommodate the influx of devotees, ensuring that everyone can partake in this cherished tradition.
Accommodation remains a challenge in Tirumala, which typically limits room allocation for over 60,000 pilgrims. However, TTD has prioritized families with more members, while solo pilgrims may find it harder to secure lodging.
To further support visitors, there are now 11 mini Kalyana Kattas located in various rest houses across Tirumala. These facilities provide essential services like food and rest areas for weary travelers.
The barbershops are bustling as well; a total of 1,152 barbers—269 of whom are women—are on hand to serve pilgrims seeking traditional tonsure services.
Local officials have expressed optimism about these enhancements. They believe that such initiatives will significantly improve the experience for thousands of visitors during this busy time.
As more families flock to Tirumala during summer, these efforts by TTD illustrate a commitment to making pilgrim services not only functional but also comfortable and welcoming.
