Post Preference Window Opens
The SSC CGL 2025 post preference window opened on March 9, 2026, providing candidates with the opportunity to select their preferred posts. This window will remain active until March 12, 2026, at 6:00 PM.
To be included in the final merit list, candidates must submit their preferred post through the official website www.ssc.gov.in. A total of 15,130 vacancies have been announced for the SSC CGL 2025, with various categories of vacancies available.
Vacancy Breakdown
The vacancies are distributed among different categories, including 6,464 for the Unreserved Category (General Category), 3,834 for OBC, 2,223 for Scheduled Castes (SC), 1,134 for Scheduled Tribes, and 1,475 for the Minority Category.
It is important for candidates to note that they can change their preferences multiple times before the deadline. However, those who do not submit their post preference will not be considered for final selection.
Examination Timeline
The SSC CGL 2025 examination process has been conducted in multiple stages. The Tier-I examination result was declared on December 18, 2025, followed by the Tier-II examination, which took place from January 18 to January 20, 2026.
As candidates finalize their preferences, they must also meet the physical and medical standards required for the posts they select. Additionally, candidates belonging to the PwBD category are advised to choose posts suitable for their disability.
Current Status
As of now, candidates are actively submitting their preferences, and the final allotment of posts will be made on a merit-cum-preference basis. This sequence of events is crucial for candidates as it directly impacts their chances of securing a position in the government sector.
