Ssc cgl 2025: Latest Updates on Vacancies and Preferences

Recent Developments in SSC CGL 2025

On March 6, 2026, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) published a notice detailing the final vacancies for the SSC CGL 2025, which amount to approximately 15,130 posts. This announcement has set the stage for candidates preparing for the upcoming selection process.

The selection process for the SSC CGL consists of two rounds of online examinations: Tier-I and Tier-II. The exam dates for Tier-I are scheduled from September 12 to September 26, 2025, while Tier-II will take place on January 18 and 19, 2026.

As part of the application process, candidates are required to fill out their Option-cum-Post Preference, which is open from March 9 to March 12, 2026. This window is critical as candidates who do not submit their preferences during this period will not be considered for the final merit list. According to the SSC, “Candidates who do not submit their Option-cum-Preference during the period of March 9, 2026 (6:00 PM) to March 12, 2026 (6:00 PM) will not be granted any further opportunities for submission.”

It is essential for candidates, particularly those with disabilities (PwBD), to select preferences only for posts that are suitable for their disabilities. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of their candidature by the concerned User Department.

The total number of vacancies is distributed across various departments and categories, including posts for Assistant/ASO in the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), with 14 positions, and several other ministries with varying numbers of posts.

For instance, there are 3 posts for Assistant in the Ministry of Statistics & PI, 1 post for Assistant in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, 5 posts for Assistant in the Election Commission of India, and 1 post for Assistant in the Directorate General of Health Services.

As candidates prepare to fill out their preferences, it is advised that they engage in thoughtful consideration and strategic decision-making regarding their choices. Candidates must ensure that after filling in their preferences, they submit the form by clicking the ‘Submit’ button.

With the exam dates approaching and the preference window opening soon, candidates are urged to stay informed and act promptly to secure their positions in the competitive landscape of SSC CGL 2025.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any further changes to the examination schedule or the number of vacancies.
