Salah’s agent denies Besiktas agreement amid transfer speculation
Salah’s Future Remains Undecided
Reports suggesting that former Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah was close to joining Besiktas have been denied by his agent, Ramy Abbas Issa. Widespread speculation had indicated an agreement was imminent for the 34-year-old Egypt international to move to the Turkish club. However, Abbas has refuted these claims, stating that no decision has been made regarding Salah’s future.
Abbas took to social media platform X to address the rumours. In one post, he wrote, “I personally do not know where Mohamed will play next season. What does that tell you?” Earlier on the same day, Abbas had also posted, “It is not our style to have discussions with clubs that Mohamed wouldn’t want to play for, just for the sake of noise.” These statements aim to clarify the situation surrounding Salah’s next move.
Salah concluded his nine-year tenure at Anfield after agreeing with Liverpool to cancel his contract at the end of last season. During his time with the Reds, Salah achieved significant success, including winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the Club World Cup, and the Community Shield. He made 315 Premier League appearances for the club, placing him fifth in the club’s all-time list for Premier League appearances, behind Jamie Carragher (508), Steven Gerrard (504), Jordan Henderson (360), and Sami Hyypia (318).

Transfer Market Activity Across Europe
Beyond Salah’s situation, the transfer market continues to see considerable activity. Bayern Munich has reportedly rejected a move from Real Madrid for their 24-year-old France forward Michael Olise, indicating he is not available this summer. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund and Germany attacker Karim Adeyemi, also 24, is understood to be heading to Barcelona.
In other developments, Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly competing for RB Leipzig and Netherlands defender Lutsharel Geertruida, 25, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland. Manchester City and Tottenham are said to be interested in Portuguese winger Francisco Trincao, 26, and could potentially intercept his proposed move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli from Sporting.
Barcelona is also reportedly preparing to intensify their pursuit of Atletico Madrid and Argentina forward Julian Alvarez, 26, following this summer’s World Cup. Additionally, Hull City has submitted a bid for Mjallby midfielder and Swedish World Cup star Elliot Stroud, 24.
Goalkeeper and Defensive Targets
Several clubs are looking to bolster their goalkeeping and defensive ranks. Manchester United is exploring options for two more midfielders after finalising a deal for 22-year-old Chelsea and Brazil international Andrey Santos. They are also in the market for a goalkeeper to provide competition for Belgian Senne Lammens, 24, and could consider Paraguay’s Orlando Gill, 26, from Argentine side San Lorenzo.
Newcastle United’s prospects of acquiring England goalkeeper James Trafford, 23, from Manchester City have reportedly improved, as Aston Villa, a potential rival for his signature, is keen to retain their number one, 33-year-old Argentine Emiliano Martinez. However, Chelsea is also reportedly interested in Trafford.
In defence, Greece centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos, 28, is attracting interest from multiple Premier League sides and other European clubs after an impressive season with relegated West Ham. Como is hoping to sign Colombia defender Davison Sanchez, 30, but may be deterred by Galatasaray’s asking price. New Benfica boss Marco Silva is reportedly keen to sign his former Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha, 31, with a bid being prepared to bring the Portugal international from Bayern Munich following his loan at Tottenham last season.
Salah recently captained Egypt to the round of 16 at the World Cup, where they were defeated 3-2 by Argentina after leading 2-0 in the 79th minute.
