Take-Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick announced that Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on November 19, 2026, and hinted at an innovative pricing strategy.
Zelnick expressed confidence that the game would be priced “way less” than its perceived value. This approach aims to enhance consumer satisfaction in the competitive landscape of AAA video games. He stated, “Consumers pay for the value that you bring to them, and our job is to charge way way way less of the value delivery.”
The game will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, following multiple delays from its original expected release in 2025. Industry estimates suggest that GTA 6 could cost between $70 and $80 at launch.
GTA 6 marks the first new edition in the franchise since the blockbuster success of GTA 5, which sold over 185 million units. Analysts anticipate that this upcoming title could generate more than $1 billion in revenue within its first week.
The game will feature dual protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, adding depth to its open-world gaming experience. Zelnick mentioned feeling nervous about the upcoming launch, saying, “I run so scared with regard to all of our releases — just multiply it by a billion this time around.”
A third trailer for the game is expected in May 2026, building excitement among fans eager for more details. Despite the hype, Take-Two has resisted product placements within the game’s world to maintain its integrity.
As observers look forward to its release, there remains uncertainty about the exact pricing structure that will be finalized. However, with a 95% likelihood that the release date will hold true, gamers are preparing for what promises to be a landmark event in video game history.
