MHT CET Introduces Second Attempt for Students
The introduction of a second attempt for MHT CET marks a significant change in the examination process, allowing students more opportunities to improve their scores. Starting May 9, 2026, approximately 4,92,383 students will have the chance to retake their exams.
In this new structure, the MBA/MMS CET will also take place on the same day for 53,931 candidates. Following that, the PCB group exam is set for May 10 and 11, with about 1,16,538 students participating. The PCM group exam will occur from May 12 to May 21, excluding May 16 and 17, with around 3,21,914 candidates involved.
This year marks a pivotal moment as it is the first time the CET Cell has introduced two attempts for these entrance exams, following a similar model used in national-level assessments like JEE (Main). In the first attempt of MHT CET this year, out of 8,96,236 registered students, 8,33,482 appeared for the exam—resulting in an impressive attendance rate of 92.99%.
Key details:
- The second attempt begins on May 9 and includes multiple exams across various streams.
- The official release of the MHT CET 2026 Answer Key Session 1 is expected by May 2.
- Students can download their answer keys and response sheets from cetcell.mahacet.org.
Officials have stated that if candidates choose to appear for both attempts, the higher percentile score will be considered for admission. A score of around 100 marks is anticipated to correspond to a percentile range of approximately 88 to 92 for PCM candidates and between 85 to 90 for those in PCB.
As the changes unfold, many students are expressing mixed feelings about this opportunity. One candidate noted that this could relieve some pressure: “Having a second chance feels reassuring; I can aim higher now.” With just weeks until the first attempt’s results are released and subsequent exams begin, students are eager to see how these adjustments may impact their futures.
