Karnataka SSLC Examination Grading Proposal

Karnataka SSLC Examination Grading Proposal

The Karnataka government has proposed a new grading system for third language subjects in the SSLC examination, aiming to ease academic pressure on students. This initiative, set to be implemented from the 2025-26 academic year, will allow students to receive grades instead of marks in these subjects.

Under the new grading rules, students will be awarded grades as follows: ‘A’ for scores between 80% and 100%, ‘B’ for scores from 50% to 79%, and ‘C’ for scores up to 49%. Importantly, third language and National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) subjects will be treated as additional subjects on the marks card and will not impact a student’s pass or fail status.

The overall SSLC examination pattern will remain unchanged, with six core subjects still carrying a total of 625 marks. This decision reflects a broader commitment to reducing academic pressure while promoting skill-based and language learning among students.

The notification regarding this proposal is currently in draft stage and is open for public objections and suggestions for a period of seven days. The government is actively seeking input from the community to ensure that the new grading system meets the needs of students and educators alike.

As the education landscape evolves, this proposed change could significantly influence how students engage with their studies, particularly in language learning. Observers are keen to see how this initiative will be received by the public and whether it will lead to a more supportive educational environment.

Details remain unconfirmed as the proposal awaits feedback from the community, but the Karnataka government’s efforts to adapt the SSLC examination system reflect a growing recognition of the importance of student well-being in education.
