Ishan Kishan Leads India to T20 World Cup Victory
Ishan Kishan’s Emotional Dedication
“I played well for her. I spoke to Hardik bhai, he said to put the team ahead. I dedicate this win to her, and today is Women’s Day, so it makes it all the more special,” said Ishan Kishan after India’s triumphant T20 World Cup final against New Zealand.
Kishan’s heartfelt words came just a day after the tragic loss of his cousin sister in a car accident. Despite the personal grief, he managed to score 54 runs off just 25 balls in the final, contributing significantly to India’s total of 255 runs.
The match, held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, saw India secure a convincing 96-run victory, marking their third T20 World Cup title and making them the first team to successfully defend the championship.
Kishan’s performance throughout the tournament was remarkable, finishing as the fourth-highest run-getter with a total of 317 runs in nine matches, including three half-centuries and an impressive strike rate of 193.29.
In the final, India’s bowlers also shone, with Jasprit Bumrah taking 4 wickets for just 15 runs and Axar Patel claiming 3 wickets for 27 runs, further solidifying the team’s dominance.
Reflecting on his journey, Kishan noted, “In these two years, the biggest thing I learned was to just keep doing your job, don’t think about the results.” This mindset clearly paid off as he stepped up when it mattered most.
He added, “I just went in with the thought today that even if I get out on zero, we just have to win the World Cup,” showcasing his commitment to the team’s success over personal achievements.
The victory not only brought joy to the Indian cricket fans but also served as a poignant reminder of Kishan’s dedication to his family and the sport. “She always wanted me to score big runs,” he reflected, underlining the emotional weight of the occasion.
As the cricketing world celebrates India’s historic win, all eyes will be on Kishan and his future performances, with expectations high following this remarkable tournament.
