The stock market in India is closed today, March 3, 2026, in observance of the Holi festival. Both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will not conduct trading activities.
Additionally, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will experience a partial holiday, remaining closed for the first session. However, trading on the MCX will resume in the evening session from 5 pm to 11 pm.
Meanwhile, the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange will remain closed for both trading sessions today. The markets are scheduled to reopen on March 4, 2026, at 9:15 am and will close at 3:30 pm.
On the previous trading day, March 2, the BSE Sensex closed at 80,238.85, marking a decline of 1.29%. The NSE also saw a decrease, closing at 24,865.70, down 1.24%.
This year, March is notable for multiple trading holidays in India. Following today’s closure for Holi, the market will also be closed for Shri Ram Navami on March 26 and for Shri Mahavir Jayanti on March 31.
Earlier in the year, January 15 was declared an additional holiday due to the Mumbai BMC elections, and January 26 was a holiday for Republic Day.
