According to reports, thousands of users were unable to send or reply to direct messages (DMs), leading to widespread frustration. Complaints peaked at over 6,000, as tracked by Downdetector, with 68% of these complaints specifically related to app performance. Additionally, 19% of users reported server connection issues, while 7% experienced problems with posting content.
As the outage unfolded, users turned to other social media platforms to confirm the situation, expressing their frustrations publicly. One user noted, “Is Instagram down? I can’t reply to my friend,” while another lamented, “Instagram is officially cooked. My DMs are a ghost town.” Many users reported being cut off mid-conversation, which only added to their dissatisfaction with the service.
