Indane Gas Distribution Issues in Bengaluru
Previously, customers in Bengaluru had a straightforward process for booking Indane gas cylinders, with a booking period of 21 days. However, recent developments have disrupted this expectation.
Recent Changes
In a decisive shift, the Indian government announced an increase in the LPG booking period from 21 days to 25 days. This change came shortly after domestic and commercial LPG cylinder prices were hiked, raising concerns among consumers and businesses alike.
Allegations of Fraud
Amid these changes, a Bengaluru-based customer, Madhu Menon, accused Indane of fraud in gas cylinder distribution. Menon claimed that cylinders were booked in his name but were never delivered to him. He stated, “Got this message saying my last cylinder was delivered on 25 Feb and I can’t order again till late March. Except I haven’t ordered a new cylinder since early 2025! Then I discovered clear fraud!”
Menon’s situation highlights a troubling aspect of the distribution process, as he lives alone and uses very little gas for cooking. His discovery of the alleged fraud occurred when he attempted to book a refill on Indane’s website.
Impact on Businesses
The implications of these distribution issues are significant. Bengaluru hoteliers have warned of a potential temporary shutdown of eateries due to disruptions in LPG cylinder supply. This situation has raised alarms about the reliability of gas supply amidst rising prices and extended booking periods.
Official Response
Despite the allegations and concerns, officials have stated that there is sufficient supply of LPG available in the country. This assertion aims to reassure consumers amidst the turmoil surrounding the distribution process.
Expert Opinions
Political figures like Siddaramaiah have weighed in on the situation, stating, “Their decision was right,” in reference to the government’s recent policy changes. This endorsement suggests a recognition of the complexities involved in managing gas distribution and pricing.
As the situation evolves, the interplay between government policy, consumer experiences, and business operations will continue to shape the landscape of Indane gas distribution in Bengaluru. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the extent of the alleged fraud and its impact on the broader market.
