Indane Faces Booking Issues Amidst Long Queues in Lucknow

Long Queues and Booking Challenges

Indane gas booking issues have led to long queues outside LPG distributing agencies in Lucknow, as customers face significant challenges in securing their gas cylinders. The online booking system, which includes the IVRS helpline and other digital platforms, has reportedly stopped functioning due to a technical snag.

Customers have expressed frustration, with many waiting for hours to book cylinders after the online portal developed a malfunction. One customer, Hasan Faisal, highlighted the urgency of the situation, stating, “I bought a cylinder for Rs 1,050 while the regular rate is around Rs 900. In a crisis, we have to manage somehow because there is no supply.” This reflects the desperation felt by residents as they seek alternatives.

Concerns Over Supply and Fraud Accusations

Residents are increasingly concerned about running out of gas before their refills arrive. The IVR system complicates matters further, as it may disconnect if a consumer attempts to book a second refill within 25 days of the previous booking. This has left many feeling helpless in the face of the ongoing issues.

In a related incident, a Bengaluru-based customer, Madhu Menon, accused Indane of fraud in distribution, claiming that cylinders were booked in his name but not delivered. He stated, “Got this message saying my last cylinder was delivered on 25 Feb and I can’t order again till late March. Except I haven’t ordered a new cylinder since early 2025! Then I discovered clear fraud!” Such allegations raise serious questions about the integrity of the booking process.

Background and Current Situation

The disruption in gas supply has been attributed to a shortage of commercial LPG cylinders, which is linked to geopolitical issues involving countries such as Iran, the US, and Israel. In response to these challenges, the Centre has revised the priority order for domestically produced natural gas.

Despite these issues, LPG companies have reported that the booking system is functioning normally. Consumers are encouraged to use alternative digital booking methods, such as SMS booking, missed call services, or mobile applications, to secure their gas cylinders.

However, many customers have reported difficulties in connecting to the Indian Oil Corporation booking helpline, with one woman needing assistance for her gas booking because it was not processed. Agency staff have acknowledged the server issue, stating, “There is a server issue right now. It should be resolved soon.” Details remain unconfirmed regarding the timeline for resolution.
