CUET UG: Students Outraged Over Distant Exam Centre Allocations
The release of the CUET UG 2026 City Intimation Slip on April 29 has sparked outrage among students. Many candidates received notifications assigning them to examination centres located far from their preferred choices, creating significant logistical challenges.
Students had hoped for better exam centre allocation, especially since they could select four locations in their application. However, reports indicate that numerous candidates have been assigned to distant centres in cities like Mohali, Jaipur, and Agra.
One anonymous candidate expressed their concerns, saying, “I don’t know how a poor student like me will manage the expenses, especially in this extreme heat.” This sentiment echoes throughout various student communities in the National Capital Region.
The city intimation slip serves as a preliminary document and does not include essential details such as the exact exam centre or the date and time of the examination. Candidates are advised to treat it as a planning tool for travel arrangements ahead of the scheduled exam dates from May 11 to May 31.
Despite the frustrations, officials from the National Testing Agency (NTA) have clarified that they will not entertain requests for rescheduling exam dates or shifts. They emphasize that this step is necessary to manage the large number of candidates effectively.
The NTA stated, “The city intimation slip plays a key role in helping students avoid last-minute confusion.” Yet, many students feel that the current allocations add unnecessary stress to an already challenging process.
As students prepare for these exams, they face not only financial burdens but also significant travel challenges. The situation raises questions about how equitable the examination process is for all candidates.
The next important date on the calendar is May 11 when the examinations commence. Students are left hoping for clearer communication and support as they navigate these new circumstances.
