The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has adopted a new On-Screen Marking system for the first time in 2026, aiming to improve transparency and efficiency in the evaluation process. The results for the Class 12 board examinations are expected to be declared in the third week of May, likely around May 23.

More than 18 lakh students are currently waiting for their results. To pass, students must achieve a minimum of 33% marks in each subject. The Class 12 board examinations began on February 17, 2026, and are scheduled to conclude in March.

This year, students can access their results through multiple platforms including cbse.gov.in, results.cbse.nic.in, DigiLocker, and the UMANG app. This initiative aims to streamline the process and provide students with quicker access to their scores.

Sanyam Bhardwaj from CBSE stated, “I refute each and every thing which has been stated in some media news portal. These are false and everything is perfectly fine.” He further commented that the evaluation process is running smoothly and efficiently, adding, “My evaluation is going very perfectly, better than the previous evaluation.”

The introduction of On-Screen Marking is part of ongoing efforts by CBSE to modernize its evaluation methods. Officials have not yet disclosed specific details on how this new system will work in practice.

What students should do next:

  • Download and save a digital copy of their marks from DigiLocker after checking results.
  • Collect their original marksheet from school when available.
  • Begin researching colleges and completing admission forms.

As students prepare for their futures, they await confirmation on the exact date for result declaration. While excitement builds among students and parents alike, CBSE will not hold a press conference to announce these results.
