Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card Changes Announced
Changes to Cashback Mechanics
Axis Bank has announced changes to the Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card, which will take effect on April 12, 2026. The alterations include modifications to cashback mechanics and the removal of airport lounge access, which has been a notable benefit of the card.
Previous Cashback Structure
The Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card was previously recognized for its strong cashback offerings. Cardholders enjoyed 25% cashback on Airtel payments, capped at INR 250 per month. Additionally, the card provided 10% cashback on utility payments made through the Airtel Thanks app, also capped at INR 250 monthly. Users could earn 10% cashback on purchases from platforms like Swiggy, Zomato, and BigBasket, along with 1% cashback on other spending.
New Cashback Structure
Under the new structure, cashback caps will now depend on the amount of base cashback earned in the same statement cycle, which may complicate the previously straightforward benefits. The cashback on Swiggy, Zomato, and BigBasket has been replaced with a 10% value back on Zomato, Blinkit, and District Movies. However, this change comes with a maximum value back of INR 200 per partner per month and a minimum order value of INR 499 for Zomato and Blinkit.
Removal of Lounge Access
Another significant change is the removal of the 4 complimentary domestic lounge visits per year, which had been a valued feature for frequent travelers. This alteration may impact the card’s appeal among users who utilized these benefits regularly.
Impact on Card Popularity
These changes have raised concerns among existing cardholders and potential customers. The modifications dilute the simplicity that made the Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card popular among users, especially in the sub-INR 1,000 annual fee category. The card was previously regarded as one of the strongest cashback options available.
Future Expectations
As the implementation date approaches, observers are keen to see how these changes will affect customer satisfaction and card usage. The alterations may prompt users to reassess their loyalty to the card, especially if they relied heavily on the previous cashback and lounge access benefits. Details remain unconfirmed regarding any additional changes or customer responses to the new structure.
