Bomb Threat Leads to Evacuation at Parul University
“So far, nothing suspicious has been found on the campus, but sanitising the entire campus will take a couple of hours,” stated a police officer responding to a bomb threat incident at Parul University in Vadodara, India, on March 10, 2026.
The threat emerged from an email that prompted immediate evacuation of the campus, affecting over 65,000 students enrolled in various courses. The university’s internal examinations scheduled for that day were also postponed as a precautionary measure.
Authorities, including police teams from the Local Crime Branch, Special Operations Group, and Waghodia Police Station, swiftly responded to the situation. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad was deployed to conduct a thorough search of the premises.
Despite the urgency, no explosives were discovered during the search operation. The bomb threat email was traced back to hacked Outlook and Hotmail IDs, which were linked to a compromised-accounts marketplace.
This incident was not isolated; it was part of a series of bomb threat emails sent to various government departments across the state, raising concerns about security protocols.
Ahmedabad cybercrime teams are currently investigating the email trail to identify the perpetrators behind this alarming incident. The evacuation also caused significant traffic congestion in the Waghodia area, affecting local commuters.
In light of the incident, the university plans to reschedule the postponed examinations for a day after the current schedule concludes. This situation has highlighted potential gaps in email security and identity verification processes at the university.
As investigations continue, the university community remains on alert, with officials emphasizing the importance of campus safety and security measures.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the broader implications of this incident on university policies and security protocols.
