LPG Gas Price Increase in India
Oil marketing companies have increased the prices of non-subsidised domestic LPG gas cylinders by ₹60 across metropolitan cities in India. The price for a 14.2 kilogram gas cylinder has risen from ₹853 to ₹913 in Delhi, marking a significant adjustment in household energy costs.
In Mumbai, the new rates for LPG cylinders will be ₹912.50, while in Kolkata, consumers will now pay ₹939. Chennai residents will see a price of ₹928.50 for the same cylinder size. This adjustment reflects the ongoing fluctuations in energy costs.
Additionally, the rates of commercial LPG gas cylinders have also been increased by ₹115, impacting businesses that rely on this fuel source. The revised prices of LPG gas cylinders have come into effect from today, affecting millions of consumers across the country.
This price hike is attributed to increased energy prices due to the conflict in West Asia, which has had a ripple effect on global energy markets. The last increase in the price of domestic cooking gas was on March 7, 2026, when it was also hiked by ₹60 per cylinder.
As these new rates take effect, observers are closely monitoring the situation to see how it will impact consumer behavior and overall inflation in the country. The ongoing geopolitical tensions and their influence on energy prices remain a concern for both consumers and policymakers.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any potential further increases or adjustments in the coming months as the situation evolves.
