Park Jin-young Steps Down

“Park Jin-young will not go through the process of reappointment as an inside director at the general shareholders’ meeting on March 26,” stated JYP Entertainment.

This announcement marks a significant transition for Park, who has served as a registered inside director since 2011, stepping down after 15 years in the role. He plans to redirect his focus towards creative activities as an artist, nurturing junior talent, and engaging in external work related to the K-pop industry.

Park Jin-young, who debuted in the music industry in 1994, founded JYP Entertainment in 1997, establishing himself as a pivotal figure in the K-pop scene. His leadership has been instrumental in the company’s growth, which recently saw record sales in the second quarter of 2025.

Under his guidance, JYP Entertainment’s Stray Kids achieved remarkable success, grossing $76.2 million with 491,000 audience members during their North American tour, making it the highest-grossing K-pop tour of 2025 according to Billboard’s end-of-the-year report.

Despite stepping down from his directorial role, Park will retain his position as Chief Creative Officer (CCO) and continue his various efforts within the K-pop industry going forward. “Jinyoung Park will focus on creative activities as an artist, nurturing junior talent, and external work related to the K-pop industry,” the company added.

Park’s departure from the board comes at a time when JYP Entertainment is experiencing significant growth and success, further emphasizing the impact of his leadership over the years.

As he transitions away from directorial responsibilities, the K-pop community and fans alike are eager to see how Park Jin-young will shape his future endeavors and contribute to the industry he has helped to build.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any specific projects he may undertake as he shifts his focus. However, his commitment to nurturing the next generation of artists remains a priority.
